Remember the article we did on Samsung region locking the Note 3 and causing  customers a lot trouble, well Samsung has gone ahead and acknowledged the fact that they did region lock the Note 3. In a statement to German site allaboutsamsung Samsung has said that region locking the Note 3 was a bad move.

To add fuel to fire Samsung has said that the region will stay in place but they will be looking for ways to optimize the procedure. Here is the statement from Samsung (translated from German):-

“We assure you that the pleasant and smooth user experience for our customers with Samsung products is a top priority for us. Of course, we take customer feedback to heart.
The fact that the regional SIM Lock function ensures this degree of uncertainty , we did not expect . Therefore, we collected and analyzed the many questions in the last days .
The regional SIM lock feature on the latest Samsung products will remain in place. We are currently examining intensively However , how can we optimize and simplify the procedure for total customer satisfaction. To answer all the questions satisfactorily , but we still need some time .
If users previously have problems with the deactivation of the regional SIM lock function, they can contact customer service . This supports like the activation process so that customers can use their device without restrictions.”

Optimize the procedure, WTF Samsung. You add a region lock to a device without telling the customers, and now you want to optimize the process instead of removing the region lock. The statement is again full of lies, was customer feedback taken before implementing the region lock? No, money was taken from carriers.

You still need time, well that’s because you sold out to the carriers, implemented the region lock and now you are looking for an excuse to justify region lock. Pathetic!

If you are a Note 3 user with a region lock you can use Region Lock Away to remove the region lock.
