LG announces thinnest Full HD LCD smartphone panel 4

Smartphones are going to be even more thinner. LG Display announced world’s thinnest Full HD ( 1080 p ) Smartphone panel. The panel is just 5.2-inches long diagonally and only 2.2 mm thick.

Today’s introduction of the world’s slimmest Full HD LCD panel represents an exciting advancement for the high-end smartphone segment, and is possible due to our world-class expertise in IPS and touch technologies” said Dr. Byeong-Koo Kim, Vice President and Head of LG Display’s IT and Mobile Development Group. “LG Display will continue its commitment to developing products that maximize consumer value as well as opening new doors for the mobile and tablet PC industry.”

The new panel will enable sleeker Full HD smartphones delivering superior viewing experience. Rumors suggest that this panel will be used in LG Optimus G2. You can read the complete press statement here at LG newsroom

    Holy shit is that thin. My daily phone is the Droid DNA and its a fairly thin phone at 9.77 mm. 2 mm will be like holding a piece of paper.

      That’s just the display, not the phone itself. It would be (for obvious reasons) impractical.

    I’m guessing the phone will be between 4 and 5 mm. I’m more curious on the battery that will power it. We really need something on the scale of 2800 or better to bet a good 20 hours of avg use

      +1. I am also guessing around 5mm and yeah as you said battery should be atleast 3000 mAh if not better
