Before I go down this road I want to make myself crystal clear that I am not a Blackberry hater by any stretch. With that out of the way, I could give two hoots if my hands ever have the pleasure (or displeasure) of holding a Blackberry Z10 or Q10! The phone bores me to tears.
Blackberry has their fans like Kevin from Crackberry.com that’s hoping this is Blackberry’s hail Mary pass to be a contender. I would bet if you were to hook Kevin up to a lie detector test he would even have to admit that BB10 is a DUD. I’m not picking on you Kevin…. I’m a fan of your enthusiasm!
When I see a Blackberry Z10 being used, I feel like I’m physically looking at the spawn of an iPhone and the Droid X, confusing interface (even for a phone geek like myself) and a clunky OS that struggles with some of the simplest of tasks. I’m not going to get in to every hardware and software spec of the phone but this could have been released this time last year and it would still be behind the curve.
T-Mobile is hoping to be the first carrier to offer the Blackberry Z10 mid March and we’ll see if I’m wrong about this (I hope I am). As far as I know the Z10 will also be offered by all of the major US carriers, which is proven to be a good thing (SGSIII and Note 2).
I think some of the old hardcore Blackberry users and curious phone geeks will migrate to the Z10, then back to Android and iOS. It’s just not enough to pull the average or hardcore user away from the two kings of the hill. Blackberry is hoping to hold the third spot behind Android and iOS but I think Windows Phones may have something to say about that.
To conclude this semi rant I’m having. I just don’t see Blackberry being able to compete with what they have to offer. They took to long of a break from the party and when they showed back up to the party they brought moon shine to a martini bar. I hope I’m wrong but I’m afraid I’m not.
